COOKIES POLICY

WHAT ARE COOKIES? Cookies are small text files sent by the website to the data subject’s terminal equipment (usually to the browser), where they are stored for transmission back to the site when the user next visits it. A cookie cannot read the user’s hard disk, nor can it transmit computer viruses or acquire e-mail addresses. Each cookie is specific to the user’s web browser. Some cookie functions can be handled by other technologies. In this document ‘cookie’ shall mean both cookies in the strict sense of the term as well as similar technologies.
The use of cookies makes it possible to record information about your preferences, such as the pages you browse or the files you download from our website, or anything similar you do when browsing our website.
FIRST-PARTY AND THIRD PARTY COOKIES Cookies are either one or the other. “First-party” cookies are those created by the website controller, whereas “third party” cookies are those created by parties other than the website controller.
TYPES OF COOKIES
Technical cookies are those used for the sole purpose of “transmitting a communication over an electronic communications network or to the extent strictly necessary for the supplier of an information service of the company explicitly requested by the subscriber or the user in order to deliver said service” (paragraph 1, Article 122, of the Italian Privacy Code).
Cookies are not used for other purposes and are normally installed by the controller or by the website operator.
They may be categorized as follows:
– browsing or session cookies, needed to enable normal browsing and use of the website (they ensure it is possible to make a purchase or to demonstrate one’s credentials for entering the site’s restricted-access areas). Without them the website cannot function properly;
–analytic cookies, akin to technical cookies when used directly by the website operator to collect information, in aggregated form, on the number of users and on how they visit the website, for the purpose of making improvements to website performance;
– functionality cookies, which enable users to browse in accordance with a series of selected criteria (for example, their language, the products they chose to buy, etc.) so that the service to them can be improved. The installation of these cookies does not require prior consent by users (for more information, see “Managing Cookies” below).
Profiling Cookies Profiling cookies create profiles of users. They are used for sending users advertising matched to the preferences they have shown when browsing the network.
The use of profiling cookies requires the consent of the data subject. According to decision no. 229 of 8th May 2014, users must be able to give authorisation or withhold consent for the installation of profiling cookies if they are present.
In the case of third-party cookies the website has no direct control over individual cookies and cannot control them (it can neither install them directly or delete them). However, you can manage these cookies through your browser settings (follow the instructions below) or the websites listed in “Managing Cookies” (see below).
COOKIE DURATION Cookie duration is determined by their expiry date (or by a given action, such as closing the browser) set at the time the cookie is installed. Cookies may be:
temporary or session cookies: these are used to store temporary information and they make it possible to link together the actions performed during a given session. They are removed from the computer when the browser is closed;
permanent (persistent cookies): these are used to store information - for example, the name and password for access - to spare users the need to re-type them whenever they visit a specific site. They remain in the computer memory even after the browser is closed.
Once connection with this website is terminated, so-called session cookies are eliminated.
COOKIES INSTALLED ON THIS WEBSITE
These cookies enable Google Analytics to function. They collect data on the number of times users have visited the website as well as data on the first visit and the most recent one, the browser used, the time of access to the website, the duration of the visit, and much more. This software enables us to understand if users’ experience when browsing and purchasing can be improved. All the data collected is saved in a way that is safe and the data is accessible only to authorised persons.
MANAGING COOKIES You can prevent cookies being stored on your hard disk by configuring your browser to disable them. Shown below are the procedures indicated by the main browsers:
However, after the above procedures, some web page functions may not work correctly.
